From ultrasound tech to Coding Specialist: Yudelka Espinal’s story
Agosto de 2025 – mayo de 2026

Yudelka Espinal had spent years working in healthcare as an ultrasound technician at a hospital. She knew the clinical setting, the medical language, and the rhythm of patient care up close, but a moment came when she decided to open herself to a new professional stage.
In August 2025 she began her preparation at Codingforhealth with a clear goal: build the knowledge needed to enter the world of medical coding and prepare for the CPC credential.
From clinical experience to medical coding
Over the following months she studied, practiced, and built a new professional base on top of the healthcare experience she already had.
The transition did not mean starting from zero. Her prior experience let her recognize clinical language and understand the care environment from another angle. Now she had to learn to interpret that information from the coding point of view.
The CPC exam
In February 2026 one of the most important moments of the process arrived: Yudelka sat for the CPC exam. She passed on her first attempt.
The credential was an important step, but her goal was to take what she had learned into a professional setting.
Her first medical coding role
Three months after the exam, in May 2026, she landed her first job as a Coding Specialist at a company in Florida.
She currently works onsite, applying her knowledge in a professional setting and building experience in the field.
The next chapter
Yudelka’s story does not end with passing a credential exam or landing a first job. She is now building experience, sharpening her judgment, and putting together a path inside medical coding.
Her route shows how prior experience within healthcare can become the base for moving into a new professional role.
Conseguí mi primer empleo a los 3 meses después de tomar el examen. El curso y la experiencia de aprendizaje en Codingforhealth fue sin duda clave para lograr estos resultados.
